We are in our second year of hosting exchange students. I recommend that everyone should consider hosting a student. It isn't just the exchange student who grows and learns from the experience. Our student last year was a joy and our student this year is too. We still have contact with last years student and I fell like I have gained two more daughters.

52 Weeks: #8 Keep Flat Surfaces Clear

For those of you who know me, you know that I am not the best of organizers when it comes to my home. I keep too much stuff and for some reason I CAN NOT throw paper away (or much of any thing else, for that matter.) Every once in a while I go to Laura's site I'm an Organizing Junkie. Sometimes I know I just can't deal with what she is suggesting. But, even though I may be late in the game, (it's already at week 8) I like this "52 WEEKS of organizing" idea. So this week I am vowing to keep my flat surfaces clear.
Now, I need to set some guidelines for myself. The flat surfaces that I am referring to this week are:

1. Kitchen Table
2. Kitchen Counters
3. Dining Room Table

I will post the pictures of these tomorrow. Or maybe today, later. Then we can see how well I do this week. I have until next Thursday. I do want to give me some time and of course the real challenge will be keeping them clear!

Take A Minute Tuesday

Take a minute on Tuesday to reflect, to smell the roses, pause.

My daughter has posted on Facebook, "everything eventually will just fall into place:)"
I told her that it does eventually. 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years 25 years you get the gist.
She then posted "Well im not rlly hopin to wait a year."
Now, I don't know what she is talking about, and I will ask her about this. But it did get me to thinking about how thing do eventually fall into place.
We don't always like how the pieces fall into place but they do.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken 

Thought I would show you how dinner turned out tonight. Added noodles and a salad and these were OK. I thought there would be more garlic flavor to them. The chicken did good. I just expected more flavor. One of my daughters thought it was good. The other only had noodles...teenagers....

 

This is before I put it in the oven. By broiler oven doesn't work so I baked this at 375 degrees for about 55 minutes.

This is the mixture after I first added it to the dish. The leftover is what I saved to baste with, although if I had wanted to I could have used what was in the dish already. There is plenty when baked.

Here it is done minus two drumsticks. We couldn't wait to try it.

My plate with the noodles. I bet this would be great for the grill.
